The Brooklyn Nets recently revealed “Stars and Stripes” alternate uniforms, meant to pay homage to the team’s rich history. The gear is a throwback to the ABA Nets’ “Stars and Stripes” uniform worn from 1972-1976. To coincide with the uniform launch, the Brooklynettes dance team is hosting a “Fashion Face-Off” competition.
The Brooklynettes have enlisted tri-state area fashion design students, to help create a new look for the team. Designs must be black and white, contain the word “NETS,” reflect the Brooklyn “Stars and Stripes uniform,” and draw inspiration from the Brooklynettes current costume collection, which boasts an edgy yet sophisticated vibe.
The top three designs will be featured on brooklynnets.com, where fans will be able to vote for their favorite fashions. The apparel will be produced by costume designer, David Dalrymple, and will hit the hardwood at the Barclays Center, during the 2014-15 NBA season. … Read More »
Nike has designed a new set of special-edition uniform styles for the Oregon Ducks and the Ohio State Buckeyes, as they vie to become the very first College Football Playoff National Champion. The Mach Speed uniforms each feature a fractal diamond Swoosh on the front of the jersey and pant.
The Oregon Ducks have the most extensive college football wardrobe, with an endless array of jersey, pant and helmet combinations each season. The College Football Playoff National Championship game will have the team dressed in a white/silver/gray colorway. White jerseys will feature tonal gray and silver accents, paired with wolf gray pants and a white helmet with silver wings. The jersey showcases the tonal silver “Fighting Ducks” logo on the sleeve and the pants feature the words “Fighting Ducks” along the legs.

With the start of the 2013-2014 NBA season fast approaching, teams have been rolling out hardwood fashion updates. Each year brings a new crop of special-edition styles, with fresh colors, patterns and performance features. The New York Knicks, San Antonio Spurs and Miami Heat are among the squads who will sport revamped gametime threads throughout the season.
The New York Knicks have unveiled an orange, alternate uniform. The all-over orange design features “New York” and players’ numbers in blue with white trim. Blue and white piping lines the collar of the jerseys and the bottom of the shorts. To break up the orange-on-orange ensemble, the shorts also include a thick blue waistband. The 2014 NFL Pro Bowl uniforms received a bold new makeover, with styling reminiscent of college football fashions. Fans have likened the threads to those worn by the Oregon Ducks and Oregon State Beavers football teams. The Nike-designed gridiron gear is a break from the traditional red and blue hues typically associated with the Pro Bowl game.

NBA uniforms have been making fashion waves, as short-sleeve jerseys are set to hit the hardwood. The Golden State Warriors first debuted the adidas designed threads last season. This year will have multiple teams wearing the updated uniform style. The Los Angeles Lakers are among the squads that will sport short-sleeve jerseys in several games this season. In addition to adopting the sleeve system of dress, the team’s wardrobe has expanded to include a new alternate jersey as well.
The Lakers officially unveiled their “Hollywood Nights” uniforms, to be worn for select games this season. The on-court attire will not feature sleeves, but will boast a black color scheme.
