Off-the-field, the Carolina Panthers quarterback is known to be sartorial risk-taker, with clothing and accessories choices that spark reactions from football and fashion fans alike. Newton’s Coachella digs included a matching floral shirt and shorts set, his signature headwear and arms dressed in jewelry.

Cam Newton has already tackled fashion design, developing his signature “MADE Cam Newton” collection of men’s apparel for Belk. Now he has transitioned into the beauty realm. The Carolina Panthers quarterback is the latest athlete to front a fragrance campaign. Newton has been tapped as the face of Drakkar Essence, a new scent from L’Oreal.
The original Drakkar fragrance, a classic scent launched in the 1980’s, has been revamped with a contemporary twist. Among the updated features is the #showyourpower hashtag, to accompany the previous slogan of “Feel the Power.” As WWD explained:
The Drakkar brand’s historic ad slogan has always been “Feel the Power.” L’Oréal added a hashtag #showyourpower in a sly reference to Newton’s habit of striking a Superman pose on the playing field after scoring touchdowns.
