This season, the NFL has put the spotlight on high-fashion football designs for female fans, and the league’s cheerleaders will follow suit. It was first announced that Alex and Ani partnered with the New York Patriots, to become the official title sponsor of the Patriots Cheerleaders. As part of the deal, the Patriots Cheerleaders will be sporting the Alex and Ani logo on all of their warmup suits and select uniforms, and wear exclusive bangle sets representing the team’s colors. Now the Philadelphia Eagles Cheerleaders are set to debut newly-designed, signature uniforms from Vera Wang.
Wang is known for her iconic wedding designs, but she’s also had a hand in developing athletic fashions. Fashion and football collided on the runway at Style360, during Fashion Week in New York. The NFL Women’s Apparel and Junk Food “NFL Elements” show was curated by Kristin Cavallari, wife of Chicago Bears quarterback, Jay Cutler. Cavallari’s gridiron garb offered a stylish spin on standard gameday designs.
The fashion show incorporated elements of the game experience, including referees, marching band members, and a catwalk that mimiced a football field. The presentation was divided into “4 Quarters,” with fashions for all 32 teams represented on the runway.
Cavallari’s capsule collection merged sports-inspired influences like deconstructed jerseys, athletic stripes and logos, with feminine, contemporary silhouettes, including maxi dresses, form-fitting mini dresses, oversized boyfriend shirts, and cropped sweaters and tees. Team colors were showcased through embellishments such as 90’s-style puffed shoulders, color-blocking techniques, and edgy, distressed graphics. Each of the fashions infused … Read More »
