NBA players are notorious for their off-court style statements, and that interest in fashion has now been integrated into on-court apparel. One of the league’s most stylish teams, the Miami Heat, revealed “Black Tie” themed uniforms. The look merges men’s fashion and athletics, in an effort to make players look like they are dressed in formal wear. The gear was created to resemble a deconstructed tuxedo, with black and white hues and color blocking techniques. For details on how the “Black Tie” concept came to life, watch the footage here.
The Heat players also took part in a corresponding campaign, shot by TrickProductions and styled by Calyann Barnett, who works with Dwyane Wade. David Beckham’s role with H&M has evolved each season. He’s previously developed bodywear and swim wear for the retailer. The latest collaboration, dubbed “Modern Essentials selected by David Beckham,” will feature a curated selection of styles.
“My relationship with H&M continues to grow. Something I’m really excited about is my selection of items. Things I wear day-to-day, shirts, t-shirts, jeans, bomber jackets. It’s literally stuff I wear day in and day out,” Beckham said.
“Modern Essentials selected by David Beckham” will include his favorite H&M menswear pieces. Among the featured items will be a linen pilot jacket, a white chalk-washed denim jacket, a car coat, a linen blazer, a city-slicker polo shirt, and the perfect white poplin shirt. The line will be released to coincide with Beckham’s new Bodywear range. Both collections will launch worldwide in stores and online on March 5, 2015.

Steph Curry joins the roster of NBA athletes who serve as the face of a fashion company. EXPRESS has signed the Golden State Warriors guard as a brand ambassador. Beginning in March 2015, Curry will appear in campaigns for the retailer.

Tommy Hilfiger has tapped Rafael Nadal to serves as a global brand ambassador for the fashion house. Beginning in Fall 2015, the tennis champ will front the Tommy Hilfilger Underwear and Tommy Hilfiger Tailored Collection campaigns. This is not Nadal’s first foray into the modeling game. He previously served as the face of Emporio Armani Underwear and Jeans.

GQ France tapped Jo-Wilfried Tsonga to appear in the magazine’s January issue. The #12 ranked tennis star is featured in a 10-page fashion editorial, where he models Winter coats and jackets. He donned ten different styles, ranging from classic, elegant coats to edgier, patterned picks.

Russell Westbrook quickly climbed the style ranks to become one of the NBA’s top trendsetters. His sartorial success has transitioned outside of the game, with a range of fashion ventures. Today the Oklahoma City Thunder guard played the role of stylist, picking out Grant Hill’s outfit for NBA TV’s Inside Stuff. During the segment, “From Hoops to Threads,” Westbrook and Hill break down his on-court basketball game and his off-court fashion game.

Ferragamo has tapped Henrik Lundqvist as part of it’s new campaign, dubbed “A Man’s Story.” The digital menswear series is described as “an online project highlighting the notion of ‘making your own rules’.” The New York Rangers goaltender is the only athlete included the series, featured alongside actor Douglas Booth and music artist A$AP Rocky among others. The men tell their own stories through photos and video footage, while showcasing the company’s new Spring ’15 collection. Francesco Carrozzini served as the photographer and filmmaker of the product, with Massimiliano Giornetti as the creative director.

New York Mets pitcher, Matt Harvey, sat down with GQ magazine’s Editor-in-Chief, Jim Nelson, for an episode of AOL On Original series, “Win/Win.” GQ often celebrates athletes and their sense of style, and Harvey is among the many sports pros who have expressed an interest in the fashion arena.
