PLAYERS SUIT UP FOR THE 2014 NHL AWARDS

Hockey’s star players stepped into the sartorial spotlight last night, for the 2014 NHL Awards. The event was held at Wynn Las Vegas and this marked the fifth year that the league has honored top players and performances from the past season. To check out the complete list of winners, visit here.

As in previous years, many players were outfitted by John Varvatos for the evening. Varvatos has collaborated with the NHL on several occasions. During this year’s Stanley Cup finals, the designer admitted that the league is full of style standouts. He told WWD:

“Some of the best-dressed athletes are emerging from the NHL,” said Varvatos. “The players are taking risks and realizing that men’s wear is fun and not all about oversize suits. We’ve been fortunate to dress players from both teams.”

JOHN VARVATOS PROFILES BOSTON BRUINS GREGORY CAMPBELL & PATRICE BERGERON FOR “STYLE & SUBSTANCE”

To coincide with the start of the 2013-14 NHL season on October 1, Boston Bruins Gregory Campbell and Patrice Bergeron are among the stylish sportsmen to be featured on John Varvatos’ website, within the “Style & Substance” spotlight. The monthly section profiles men “whose creativity and dedication to their work follows in the spirit of John Varvatos’ own approach to his craft.” Boston-based athletes Rajon Rondo, Jacoby Ellsbury and Julian Edelman are featured gents also.

Shot during the off-season, Campbell and Bergeron were photographed wearing their own John Varvatos outfits. They share visual snapshots from their life paired with personal quotes about their craft and individual style. Both players were photographed in familiar surroundings, with Campbell captured in and around Boston, including the Bruins’ home arena, TD Garden, and Bergeron shot in his hometown of Quebec City.
