Miss Universe pageant contestants pay homage to their nations through their fashion choices. The national costume round features intricately designed outfits, with detailed elements meant to represent their home country. Miss Universe Canada contestant, Chanel Beckenlehner, celebrated hockey culture in Canada, at the 63rd Annual Miss Universe Preliminary Show.

The hockey-themed national costume tapped into all aspects of the game, from a skirt made of netting and custom knee-high skates, to hockey sticks, a scoreboard, and Stanley Cup trophy headwear. The NHL has unveiled fresh new jersey designs from Reebok, for the 2015 All-Star Game. The black home jerseys and white away jerseys each feature pops of neon green trim. The bold color choice, dubbed “elite green,” is new to the NHL fashion game.
This was a fresher spin and a color that is unique,” lead NHL Reebok designer Dominic Fillion said. “No other team owns this color so that was unique and it complemented very well the black and white while bringing a great accent with high visibility. We wanted something energetic and bright enough that it would stand out and grab your attention.
“We wanted something that fans hadn’t seen on an NHL uniform before.”

Ferragamo has tapped Henrik Lundqvist as part of it’s new campaign, dubbed “A Man’s Story.” The digital menswear series is described as “an online project highlighting the notion of ‘making your own rules’.” The New York Rangers goaltender is the only athlete included the series, featured alongside actor Douglas Booth and music artist A$AP Rocky among others. The men tell their own stories through photos and video footage, while showcasing the company’s new Spring ’15 collection. Francesco Carrozzini served as the photographer and filmmaker of the product, with Massimiliano Giornetti as the creative director.

Subban represents the sports world, along with Mike Bradwell, wide receiver for the CFL’s Toronto Argonauts, former CFL player, Brad Smith, and former Toronto Blue Jays catcher, Gregg Zaun.
The Montreal Canadiens defenseman has often expressed an interest in fashion and he’s one of the league’s sartorial leaders. Last season, as part of the “NHL Life” web series with L’Oreal Paris Men Expert, Subban spoke about getting dressed for gameday:

As in previous years, many players were outfitted by John Varvatos for the evening. Varvatos has collaborated with the NHL on several occasions. During this year’s Stanley Cup finals, the designer admitted that the league is full of style standouts. He told WWD:

Lundqvist first debuted his “Crown Collection” of apparel last season. He’s been dubbed “The King” in the hockey world, a theme that extends to the apparel. Olympic silver medalist in fencing, Tim Morehouse, has scored a gig with E! News to act as a special news correspondent. This is not the first time the entertainment show has handed the mic over to an Olympic athlete. Swimmer Ryan Lochte served as a fashion correspondent for the program during New York Fashion Week in September.
