TOMMY BAHAMA 2012 MLB-THEMED COLLECTION

Tommy Bahama and Major League Baseball Properties have teamed up once again this year, to develop a new line of baseball-themed designs. The 2012 co-branded collection of apparel includes six “Collector’s Edition” styles which will roll out throughout the season, an All-Star Game shirt that has been specially created for the Midsummer classic, and an updated MLB sportswear range.

This year’s “Collector’s Edition” gear will include a Red Sox/Fenway Park shirt celebrating the historic ballpark’s centennial (available on opening day, April 5th), a Yankees Special Edition Shirt (available April 12th), a St. Louis Cardinals Commemorative World Series shirt (available June 7th) and team shirts for the Texas Rangers (available April 26th), Detroit Tigers available (May 3rd) and Atlanta Braves (available May 10th). Only a limited number of shirts were made and each features a numbered label and is sent with a collector’s certificate.

VICTORIA’S SECRET PINK UNVEILS 2012 MLB COLLECTION

Victoria’s Secret PINK is back in the game this season with another collection of MLB-themed apparel. The VS PINK MLB Collection first launched in March 2010, providing an assortment of co-branded merchandise with select teams. The line has expanded again this year and will now include all 30 squads. To round out the group, seven new teams have been added to the collection: Atlanta Braves, Cincinnati Reds, Miami Marlins, Houston Astros, Pittsburgh Pirates, Kansas City Royals and Toronto Blue Jays. The extension of the product line is part of MLB’s efforts to continue to connect with its extensive female viewers. Recently, a new footwear fashion high-stepped on to the hardwood but it had nothing to do with the players. The New York Knicks high-heeled kicks from “Get Pumped,” first debuted on the feet of courtside reporter, Tina Cervasio, as well as the Knicks City Dancers. REMEMBERING “THE KID” IN STYLE

The sports world suffered a great loss when legendary Hall of Fame catcher, Gary Carter, passed away last Thursday after a battle with brain cancer. Tributes have been numerous as fans, former teammates and colleagues remember “The Kid.” The Empire State building shined in blue and orange to honor of the life of Carter, who helped propel the New York Mets to their 1986 World Series title. The Montreal Canadiens paid their respects to Carter, who spent 11 seasons playing for the Montreal Expos, with a pre-game tribute of their own. Players wore No. 8 sweaters during their warm-ups and projected images of Carter’s baseball cards appeared on the ice.
