Under Armour, a Baltimore-based line of performance apparel, is trying to make its mark in the highly competitive athletic footwear space, which is dominated by the basketball shoe realm. The brand has slowly been making its way into the basketball world and has spent quite some time developing kicks that can survive and thrive in a market dominated by sneaker giants such as Nike and Reebok. The company will debut their first-ever basketball footwear collection this Fall, which consists of four distinct shoe styles. In the midst of creating her RTW collections and being tapped to design the GB uniforms for the 2012 Olympic Games, Stella McCartney has managed to come up with another great sportswear idea in collaboration with adidas.

As we enter the Fall/Winter 2010 season, McCartney is introducing glow-in-the-dark running gear that ranges from hoodies, tees and shorts, to sneakers. Major League Baseball is constantly developing new merchandise to market to fans, especially when it comes to baseball caps. This past Winter fans were introduced to new “Elmer Fudd” caps, followed by new BP hats and now they have yet another opportunity to showcase their support for their favorite teams.

For games played on Memorial Day, all MLB teams will be wearing special “Stars & Stripes” caps again this year. Hats will also be worn during July 4th and September 11th games. The World Cup is setting a new style trend this summer: nationalistic fashions. Brands from all over the globe are continuing to capitalize on this major sporting event by offering a wide range of merchandise to allow fans to showcase their pride in their country.
