Out of the 5.9 million + brackets entered in the ESPN Tournament Challenge, two people (yes, TWO) got the entire Final Four correct. March Madness indeed. And one of the biggest bracket busters took place when #1 seeded Kansas was knocked out by #11 seed, Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). Some thought the team didn’t belong in the tournament and some hadn’t even heard of VCU or Coach Shaka Smart. Well that has certainly changed.
According to CNBC reporter, Darren Rovell, VCUAthletics.com, which averaged 12,000 hits a day, received more than 100,000 hits on the day of their big win. VCU has been taking full advantage of their underdog status and their time in the college basketball spotlight. The MLB season has yet to begin but the pre-season taunting is officially underway. The Dodgers have turned to fashion to take a stab at the Angels. Make that “The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.”
Together with Nike, they have unveiled a new, Dodger-blue tee that pokes fun at the Angels’ team name. A name that baseball fans have laughed about for quite some time. Not only is it extremely long but it is always strange to call them “Los Angeles” when they don’t actually play there. An obvious dig at their rivals, the new Dodger tee reads “The Los Angeles Dodgers of Los Angeles,”
Since the Angels name change happened back in 2005, we’re curious as to why these tees were created now. Either way, expect this to become a popular fan fashion this season. Currently the item is sold out but … Read More »

No matter how hard we try, we just can’t seem to stop talking about “hair” in sports. Lately the hairy chatter has surrounded several Pittsburgh Steeler and Green Bay Packer players whose long locks and crazy beards have taken on personalities of their own.
Just as in the NFL, many MLB players utilize their hair as a form of personal on-field expression. Strict uniform guidelines don’t allow for much originality so guys make a fashion statement via their grooming habits. Nike has come up with a new collection of “Cooperstown Heritage” tees which honor great players and their even greater mustaches, beards and famous ‘dos. For quite a long time, Under Armour CEO Kevin Plank referred to cotton as the “enemy.” But the two have since made amends. The Baltimore based sports performance brand is actually embracing the fabric in their latest venture, the launch of an innovative performance cotton collection called “Under Armour Charged Cotton.”
Despite the use of a different material, the cotton collection will still possess the same qualities that consumers love most about the brand’s current offerings. The new gear wisks away moisture with signature technology and dries five times faster than ordinary cotton. Charged Cotton also offers the much-needed stretch and recovery that is integral to training, resulting in lower “cling force” and a stick-free fit.
“While Under Armour may have said cotton was the enemy, it certainly wasn’t the enemy of our consumer,” Plank said. “This is a whole new category for Under Armour that … Read More »
