The golf “uniform” has certainly changed over the years. To keep up with the unique sartorial selections that players have been sporting on the course, adidas Golf is launching a new line of apparel called Fashion Performance, which merges technology with style.

According to, the youthful, hip collection pulls inspiration from runway trends such as bold hues and color-blocked designs, while keeping adidas’ signature performance properties in tact. The clothing will feature “street influences” and include a retro-style adidas logo. Jason Day, 23-year old Aussie golfer and adidas athlete, will serve as the face of the Fashion Performance line. The collection will be available for men and women in early 2012.

Iconic Italian sportswear brand, Fila, began in 1911 as an underwear manufacturer. In the 100 years since, the brand has been a leader and an innovator, infusing high-end fashion design into the sportswear industry. A trend that continues to grow even today.

As the brand celebrates turning 100, A Glam Slam got the scoop from Fila’s first creative director of apparel and footwear, Pierluigi Rolando. NY Jets linebacker, Bart Scott, made headlines for his post-game interview after the Jets defeated the New England Patriots in the NFL playoffs earlier this year. He capped off his victory rant with the words “Can’t Wait.” The tagline has become so closely associated with Scott, he has to turned it into a fashion venture. He released a line of t-shirts that feature the catchphrase and the gear is likely to become a style staple in the Jets stands this season. But as of late, the words have meaning for all football supporters. Tommy Hilfiger is once again lending his design expertise to the sport of golf. Hilfiger has signed an agreement with Fletcher Leisure Group in Montreal, Canada, to develop a line of golf apparel for both men and women. The collection will be available in Spring 2012 in the U.S., Canada and Europe.

The all-American designer’s preppy aesthetic has always been a great fit for the sport. Hilfiger had originally launched men’s golf wear in 1994, followed by women’s golf wear six years later, but the golf collection has only been available in Europe since 2007.

Yankee fans and baseball fans around the world were eagerly awaiting each at-bat, as Derek Jeter came closer to his 3,000th hit. Also anticipiating the historic milestone? Merchandisers. Within minutes of the homerun that inducted Jeter into the 3,000 hit club, emails flooded in from companies like New Era and Steiner Sports, officially releasing their DJ3K gear. Immediately following the big moment, the screen at Yankee Stadium also showed merchandise at stadium shops flying off the shelves.

It certainly helps that Jeter has been one of the most marketable athletes. Prior to the #3000 countdown, the business of selling Jeter gear has always been very good. Tennis’ third Grand Slam of the year is underway at Wimbledon. Though “whites” are required when it comes to the attire, you can still expect to see a nice runway of tennis refinery. Nike has incorporated minimal pops of color and intricate details to balance out the all-white attire.
