In addition to their skills on the gridiron, this year’s Super Bowl 50 teams have proven to be among the league’s best-dressed squads this season. All year long, the Denver Broncos and the Carolina Panthers showcased players’ wardrobes for road trips, pre-game arrivals, and post-game press conferences. Footballers from both teams enlisted the help of stylists, to carefully curate their apparel and accessories prior to each game. For Super Bowl 50, players showcased their team pride through their style selections, and chose pieces that paid homage to the host city of San Francisco and the golden anniversary of the big game.

The quarterback style showdown was a battle between two men with distinctly difference sartorial preferences. Cam Newton continued to keep it flashy, wearing a printed black and silver jacket with embellished footwear. In sharp contrast, Peyton Manning once again opted for a conservative style, highlighting the Bronco’s team colors.

In recent years, Leo Messi has been the FIFA Ballon d’Or sartorial standout, with designs that have included a polka dot tuxedo and vibrant red and burgundy styles, from Dolce & Gabbana. Messi took home his 5th Golden Ball at this year’s ceremony, dressed instead in a traditional black tuxedo from Giorgio Armani. While he opted to keep it conservative on the fashion front, his competitors filled the void with a series of loud style statements of their own.

For the fifth time, Lionel Messi received the #BallondOr award in Zurich on Monday choosing to wear a #GiorgioArmani tuxedo for the annual ceremony.
