Before suiting up in their team gear for Sunday’s matchup against the New York Jets, the Pittsburgh Steelers swapped their uniforms for designer duds. Last Friday, the team held its annual Steelers Style Fashion Show at the East Club Lounge at Heinz Field. Proceeds from the show benefitted the UPMC Sports Medicine Concussion Program and the Cancer Caring Center.
The theme of the evening was “Steelers Nation Black & Gold Style,” as team hues were incorporated into the featured fashions. Players and their families modeled apparel from American Eagle Outfitters, NIKE, Moda Pittsburgh, Michael Kors, Robert Graham, Nordstrom and Kiya Tomlin.

The NHL is not at the forefront of the fashion conversation as often as other leagues. Toronto Maple Leafs left winger, Joffrey Lupul, is hoping to shift the sartorial spotlight to his sport. This hockey season, Lupul partnered with luxury men’s clothing store, Gotstyle, and the two have collaborated to create #LupulStyle. The fashion-focused initiative includes an interactive forum called “Game Day,” which allows fans to choose Lupul’s wardrobe off-the-ice.
Before every Leafs home game, Gotstyle will outfit Lupul in its apparel and accessory offerings. Fans can visit lupulstyle.com to weigh in on their favorite look, using a “1 to 4 pucks” rating system. Paul Pierce was part of a blockbuster trade that moved him from the Boston Celtics to the Brooklyn Nets. His transition to New York this season comes after 15 years of playing in Boston. Football and fashion collide in the latest edition of Milwaukee Magazine. Green Bay Packers wide receiver, James Jones, serves as the magazine’s October 2013 cover model. Within the pages of the publication, the footballer hits the field to showcase a range of menswear styles.
With Mitchell Park’s Journey House Packers Field as the backdrop, the photo shoot, dubbed “The Lambeau Look,” has Jones donning casual men’s fashions from designers including Joe’s Jeans, Perry Ellis and Calvin Klein. Steve Nash is enlisting the help of fans, to choose his opening night fashion. The L.A. Lakers point guard is deciding between three distinct suit styles. The 2014 NFL Pro Bowl uniforms received a bold new makeover, with styling reminiscent of college football fashions. Fans have likened the threads to those worn by the Oregon Ducks and Oregon State Beavers football teams. The Nike-designed gridiron gear is a break from the traditional red and blue hues typically associated with the Pro Bowl game.
This year, the league’s top players will take the field in Hawaii wearing the Nike Elite 51 Pro Bowl Uniform. The gear was designed in vibrant color schemes of white and orange, and gray and “volt” yellow, for the AFC and NFC respectively. To celebrate the 2013 Boston Red Sox season, L.L. Bean has designed limited-edition, team-themed footwear. The company has created 50 pairs of Fenway Bean Boots, merging the brand’s popular shoe style with special Red Sox touches. The boots were made from the 100th Anniversary rain tarp that protected Fenway Field during the 2012 season.
Through its partnership with the Red Sox, the L.L.Bean branded tarp covers the infield during rain delays. Other collaborations between the outdoor gear and apparel retailer and the team have included the One Fund Boston Tote, created from the same rain tarp, and the the Fenway Boat and Tote bag, designed to recognize the 100th Anniversaries of both L.L.Bean and Fenway Park.

Golden State Warriors guard, Andre Iguodala, is quietly one of the NBA’s style standouts. He might not dominate the fashion conversation as often as other players, but he’s always been on top of his sartorial game.
In a recent interview for ESPN The Magazine, Iguodala spoke about the 2005 NBA dress code and its impact on the game’s fashion landscape. The competition now extends off-the-court, as players vie for the style spotlight. Athletes across the league are striving for success outside of basketball and dressing the part has become a large part of the game.

David Beckham will soon have some competition on the underwear design front. Fellow footballer, Cristiano Ronaldo, is set to launch a line of underwear and socks together with New York-based fashion designer, Richard Chai. Off-the-pitch, the athletes have often expressed interest in fashion and design, and both have had experience modeling in their skivvies on behalf of Emporio Armani Underwear. Beckham has had great success with his David Beckham Bodywear collection for H&M and Ronaldo hopes to follow suit with a line of his own.

LeBron James was first tapped as an Audemars Piguet brand ambassador in 2011. The latest joint venture from the Miami Heat forward and the luxury watchmaker is a new, limited-edition timepiece. Called the “Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph Lebron James,” the accessory boasts an 18-karat pink gold case, a grey patterned dial and a crocodile strap. LeBron’s signature is printed in blue on the sapphire crystal, titanium bezel. Only 600 of the watches were made, with a $51,500 price tag.
