In celebration of July 4th, Major League Baseball released a new crop of themed threads. For this year’s style set, Majestic, New Era and the league worked together to develop the Independence Day designs, again incorporating a stars and stripes motif.
Uniforms aside, there were several sartorial nods to the holiday, in the form of footwear, catcher’s gear and off-field suiting styles. Below is a recap of the July 4th MLB fashion statements:

Following the Cleveland Cavaliers NBA Championship, J.R. Smith exited the team plane and attended the squad’s celebratory parade sans shirt. Cleveland-based company, Fresh Brewed Tees, has since capitalized on Smith’s shirtless statement.
Fresh Brewed Tees partnered with the Cavs guard on an exclusive, limited-edition tee that mimics the tattoos that cover his chest and back. Per Cleveland.com, what began as a mock-up of a potential shirt style quickly went viral, prompting the company to develop the design in tandem with Smith.

Former Kansas University basketball player, Perry Ellis, has announced a sponsorship deal with menswear brand, Perry Ellis. Ellis took to social media to share the news of his new fashion gig.
The photo has him dressed in the brand’s Slim Fit Polka Dot Dress Shirt and denim bottoms. Ellis recently signed with the Dallas Mavericks, playing on their Summer League team.

The 2016 NBA Draft sartorial game was marked by a mix of simple styles and flashy fashions. It has become commonplace for prospective players to seek out bespoke tailors and personal stylists, to develop custom creations from head-to-toe.

Dooney & Bourke first partnered with Major League Baseball in 2014, for the launch of an original collection of handbags featuring team logos. This season, the brand has once again extended its MLB offerings, adding both nylon and luxe leather styles to the lineup.
The new MLB Nylon collection is bright, bold and fun, in its homage to the game. The handbags range from crossbody bags to hobos to wristlets, each designed in team hues and emblazoned with logos. Rugged russet colored leather was used for trim, while handles and straps are meant to mimic a baseball glove. The Nylon styles are offered for all 30 MLB squads.

Last season marked the debut of the NFL Men’s Lifestyle campaign, featuring players like New England Patriots wide receiver, Julian Edelman, and Green Bay Packers wide receiver, Jordy Nelson. Similar to the concept behind the NFL Women’s and NFL Juniors Apparel campaigns, the ads serve to highlight the newest fan apparel offerings for guys, while pairing those pieces with everyday wear.
