CRISTIANO RONALDO LAUNCHES CR7 LINE OF PREMIUM SHIRTS

After the successful launch of the CR7 by Cristiano Ronaldo Underwear and Socks, the footballer has expanded his fashion brand to include a range of premium shirts. With his latest apparel offerings, Ronaldo has continued his partnership with New York based designer, Richard Chai, who is also head designer of the CR7 brand.

Similar to the underwear and socks, the new shirts are meant to provide an upscale take on men’s wardrobe essentials. Ronaldo described the inspiration behind his fashion collections:

MATT BARNES PARTNERS WITH MALIBU CLOTHES TO ELEVATE HIS GAMEDAY STYLE

NBA players are always looking for ways to outshine the competition within the league’s style game. Matt Barnes is among the athletes who works closely with a stylist, Brandon Williams, to prepare each of his off-court looks. The Los Angeles Clipper describes his style as “simple is more,” and often documents his wardrobe choices on Instagram. While key pieces stand out in each ensemble, his approach to dressing is not as loud as other NBA players.

IMAN SHUMPERT TALKS HIS NBA FASHION GAME WITH WWD

Athletes hit the red carpet to celebrate the premiere of the  “Beyond the Lights” movie, where Amar’e Stoudemire serves as a producer. Amare’s New York Knicks teammate, Iman Shumpert, was among those in attendance.

Prior to the premiere, Shumpert spoke with WWD about developing his personal style in college, fashion advice from Tyson Chandler, his desire to sit front row at Paris Fashion Week, why he chooses not to work with a stylist, and the NBA Style of his competitors. The NBA recently revealed the latest crop of Christmas Day jerseys from adidas, to be worn by players this holiday season. Fans can also get into the fashion spirit, as Forever Collectibles has unveiled a new range of NBA Player Ugly Sweater styles. The company offers the sports-themed fashions for NFL, MLB, NHL and NCAA teams as well.

The officially licensed apparel merges NBA team colors and logos with holiday-inspired graphics like snowflakes and Christmas trees. In addition to team-themed designs, the company has created player specific styles. SAKS FIFTH AVENUE & JETS TEAM UP ON “FASHION BLITZ” SERIES WITH DEMARIO DAVIS

As part of the “Taste of the New York Jets” festivities, team members will participate in a fashion show featuring menswear styles from Saks Fifth Avenue. Ahead of his runway appearance, Demario Davis got some assistance with his sartorial game, thanks to a visit from Saks VP, Men’s Fashion Director, Eric Jennings. The Jets partnered with Saks Fifth Avenue on a menswear series called “Fashion Blitz.”

Jennings visited the Jets linebacker for a “Fashion Blitz” of his closet. He checked out Davis’ wardrobe options, the fit of his suits, clothing items that need to be replaced, and his vast collection of sneakers. Within the piece, Davis also spoke about his NFL style inspiration and his fashion evolution.

MATT HARVEY AND GQ’S JIM NELSON TALK STYLE AND SPORTS FOR AOL’S WIN/WIN

New York Mets pitcher, Matt Harvey, sat down with GQ magazine’s Editor-in-Chief, Jim Nelson, for an episode of AOL On Original series, “Win/Win.” GQ often celebrates athletes and their sense of style, and Harvey is among the many sports pros who have expressed an interest in the fashion arena.

With his visit to the men’s magazine, he got a chance to see how things are put together in the fashion world, with a tour of the office, an opportunity to meet with members of the team, and a chance to try on apparel from the fashion closet. Harvey also sat down with Nelson to discuss competitiveness in sports and style and his season-ending surgery. HUBLOT LAUNCHES KING POWER LOS ANGELES LAKERS TIMEPIECE

Hublot has designed special-edition timepieces for sports teams including the Miami Heat and the Dallas Cowboys. Now the Swiss watchmaker has launched a watch style for the Los Angeles Lakers, dubbed the King Power “Los Angeles Lakers.” Hublot became the Official Timekeeper of the Lakers in January 2013. Despite having created designs for Kobe Bryant, who serves as a brand ambassador, this marks the first signature watch for the team.

The accessory features details in the Laker’s purple and gold hues. The team described the timepiece:

JOFFREY LUPUL & GOTSTYLE CONTINUE “LUPUL STYLE” INITIATIVE

Last season, Joffrey Lupul teamed up with luxury men’s clothing store, Gotstyle, to create the #LupulStyle initiative. Fans had the opportunity to play the role of fashion stylist, choosing Lupul’s off-court wardrobe. For every outfit vote cast, a donation was made to the True Patriot Love Foundation in support of military families across Canada.

The Toronto Maple Leafs left winger has partnered with Gotstyle again this year. Fans can rate his Saturday style by Gotstyle and for every vote, Lupul and Gotstyle will donate $1.00 to the Toronto Remix Project. For more details and to cast your vote, visit here.

NICK YOUNG TALKS ABOUT HIS “SWAGGY P” PERSONA WITH DUJOUR MAGAZINE

Nick Young’s off-court clothing choices are as colorful as his personality. The L.A. Laker has been recognized for his sartorial sense, joining the ranks of NBA players who make front row appearances at runway shows and secure spots in fashion magazines. Most recently he was tapped to appear in Forever 21’s holiday campaign, together with his girlfriend and rapper, Iggy Azalea.

The NBA season has officially kicked-off and this year promises to bring an endless array of memorable sartorial statements. Top players have already displayed eclectic style choices, with arena arrivals marked by designer picks and novel accessories. A Glam Slam takes an early look at this year’s NBA Style game:
