NIKE UNVEILS 2014 HYPER ELITE DOMINANCE BASKETBALL UNIFORMS FOR SEVEN NCAA SQUADS

Posted on January 31st, by HeatherZeller in A GLAM SLAM U, BLOG. No Comments

Nike has unveiled the 2014 Hyper Elite Dominance uniforms, to be worn by seven top-tier NCAA teams in February. The hardwood fashions were created to “Honor the Past. Dominate the Future,” combining an old-school design aesthetic with performance innovations.

The gear pulls inspiration from the past, in the form of special logos, scripts and colors. Modern touches include the use of lightweight, breathable fabrics and aerographic mesh graphics. The Nike Hyper Elite basketball shorts are made of 100 percent recycled polyester while the jerseys are made of at least 96 percent recycled polyester, saving an average of 22 recycled plastic bottles per uniform.

The squads set to don the new uniforms include: Michigan State University, Ohio State University, Duke University, University of Kentucky, Syracuse University, University of Oregon and University of North Carolina.

The uniforms will be available for fans in March at Nike.com. Check them out:

NORTHWESTERN BASKETBALL REVEALS PLAYER-DESIGNED UNDER ARMOUR UNIFORMS

Under Armour has come to be known for its flashy and unconventional college sporting styles. The company’s recent collaboration with the Northwestern men’s basketball team continues that trend. The Wildcats played the role of fashion designers, helping to create their own alternate uniforms. The “By The Player” inspired threads offer a unique spin on standard hardwood styles.

Team members were given a series of 25 questions, which served as the foundation for the uniform design. The gear was built from details including school traditions and team mantras, offering a deeper connection to the wearers. The resulting uniform boasts a purple and gray color scheme, and is decorated with the following icons:

FAMILY, BROTHERHOOD and TRUST: The three words the players and coaches identified as the terms that embody the NU basketball team. They are placed around the school logo on the uniform.

There were no blond faux-hawks or Superman-themed socks as seen in 2011. There were no accessories as bold as Manti Te’os green and gold lei. Instead, the 2013 Heisman Trophy finalists were a bit more understated in their clothing choices.

Though they’re not yet as style-savvy as NFL pros, looking good remained an important part of the game. The collegiate stars made efforts to rack up style points during their night in the sartorial spotlight. For most, their fashion statements came in the form of neckwear. Bow ties, a vibrant pink hue, and plaid and paisley patterns rounded out the featured designs.

The final 2013 Heisman standings were as follows: Jameis Winston (Florida State); AJ McCarron (Alabama); Jordan Lynch (Northern Illinois); Andre Williams (Boston College); Johnny Manziel (Texas A&M); Tre Mason (Aubrn).
