Buzzer beaters, underdog upsets and busted brackets mean March Madness is in full swing. As specially designed uniforms have hit the hardwood for players, A Glam Slam has rounded up a new crop of NCAA fashions for the passionate collegiate fan base. A Glam Slam first compiled this NCAA Gameday Style Guide, with picks that had a common thread of merging fashion and sporting style. ADIDAS UNVEILS UNIQUE NEW UNIFORMS FOR 2013 MARCH MADNESS
With March Madness just around the corner, adidas has unveiled a new set of hardwood fashions for six collegiate teams. The squads will debut the gear during the 2013 NCAA basketball postseason. The new team threads are part of the adizero uniform system of dress. Last year adidas revealed its first set of adizero uniforms for the 2012 tournament, with three participating teams. The basketball fashions were bold, but this year’s uniforms take it up a notch, with an new, eye-catching design. In addition to updated performance benefits, the uniforms will feature a distinct on-court style.
Adidas recently unveiled short-sleeved jerseys for the NBA’s Golden State Warriors and now three college teams will follow suit. SIGNING DAY STYLE HIGHLIGHTS
Much like the NFL Draft, National Signing Day affords future football stars a chance to begin working on their off-field fashion game. Players announced their new schools stylistically, incorporating team hues into their ensembles. Some wore a tie for the very first time, while others demonstrated the swagger and confidence that fans are more likely to see from style veterans.
The newest crop of recruits also proved they are partial to bow ties. The adornment was paired with a number of fashions from vests and sweaters to suspenders and coats. “Swag” caps and airbrush tees were among the day’s casual style statements. The revolving door of college sports uniforms continues to turn, as the unveiling of new team gear has become a weekly event. The newest fashion update in college basketball involves a tribute to the late Jimmy Valvano, legendary North Carolina State basketball coach and ESPN commentator. Valvano coached NC State for 10 seasons and led the team to a memorable NCAA championship win in 1983. During tonight’s Jimmy V Classic at Madison Square Garden, the team will take on UCONN styled in specially designed uniforms.

NORTHWESTERN DEBUTS NEW FOOTBALL UNIFORMS
Northwestern unveiled new on-field fashions for the upcoming football season. The Wildcats, who were previously outfitted by Adidas, will be sporting Under Armour uniforms come September. The move marks the company’s first outfitter agreement with a Big Ten institution.
Fans have long been anticipating the team’s new look. Maryland’s now infamous Under Armour uniforms debuted last year, prompting many to prepare for another round of garish gear. Instead Northwestern will be styled in a more simplistic design with some unique aesthetic features, namely the large stripe across the chest and back of the jersey. RUTGERS UNVEILS NEW NIKE PRO COMBAT FOOTBALL UNIFORMS
The Scarlet Knights will have a new look for the 2012-2013 NCAA football season. Rutgers unveiled its Nike Pro Combat uniforms today at the SNY studios in Manhattan. Players were on-hand to model the team’s latest home (red), away (white) and alternate (black) on-field styles. The school spent the last year working with Nike to design the updated threads.
The new gridiron gear incorporates the performance benefits associated with the Pro Combat system of dress, a uniform system that is meant to make players lighter and dryer. The Nike Pro Combat base layer wicks away sweat and keeps the body cool, the jerseys are made of four-way stretch nylon and the flywire technology in the collar results in improved breathability and keeps the jersey in place.

The Oregon Ducks push the college fashion envelope each season, cementing their status as the leader in flashy on-field attire.
