ESPN & GENERATION TUX LAUNCH COLLEGE FOOTBALL PLAYOFF “NEW YEAR’S EVE COLLECTION”
Together with ESPN, Generation Tux founder, George Zimmer, is putting a formal twist on school spirit with a special series of tuxedos to honor this year’s College Football Playoff teams. The December 31st games will now include sartorial stakes, as Clemson University, University of Alabama, Michigan State University, and University of Oklahoma fans can win a team-themed New Year’s Eve ensemble.
The tuxedos feature team colors and design details to represent each university, such as an Alabama houndstooth jacket and a Clemson tiger-printed bow tie. Zimmer spoke to ESPN about the inspiration behind the collection:
Can you describe the process and your inspiration in designing the tuxedos?
Designing the tuxes was no small feat, as we – like football fans everywhere – anxiously awaited the final rankings to know which teams would make the cut. For each look, we wanted to make sure fans could show off their school pride while also looking dapper – so you’ll see accents like Clemson Tiger bowties, Michigan State Spartan epaulettes, Alabama crimson bowties and Oklahoma wheel wagon buttons.
