HARLEM GLOBETROTTERS UNVEIL 90TH ANNIVERSARY FASHION COLLECTION DESIGNED BY ANGELA SIMMONS
The Harlem Globetrotters are well-known for entertaining fans with their ball handling skills, but last night the team transitioned from the hardwood to the runway. As part of the annual KIA STYLE360 showcase during New York Fashion Week, the Globetrotters joined forces with reality TV star and fashion designer, Angela Simmons, to unveil a Harlem Globetrotters 90th Anniversary fashion line and commemorative uniforms.
Globetrotters stars Cheese Chisholm, Thunder Law and Smooth Staples modeled the updated uniforms, including red, white and blue styles. Fans can visit www.harlemglobetrotters.com/jerseyvote to vote on which uniform they’d like to see the Globetrotters wear at a future game during the team’s upcoming 90th anniversary world tour.
Simmons also debuted a range of basketball-inspired fashions, taking design cues from the team’s history, while offering a fresh update.
“As a major influencer in the fashion world, Angela Simmons feels the pulse of the younger generation, as well as our fashionable female demographic,” said Harlem Globetrotters CEO Kurt Schneider. “Our 90th anniversary season is an opportunity to honor our rich history and celebrate the future with our new generation of fans. As a devoted Globetrotters fan herself, Angela has done an amazing job pulling inspiration from our past to influence a new look that will shine at Fashion Week.”
Among the guests in attendance were Lennox Lewis and Little League phenom, Mo’ne Davis. For a closer look at the runway show and featured fashions, check out the photos below:
