BROOKLYNETTES ENLIST FASHION DESIGN STUDENTS TO CREATE NEW COSTUMES
The Brooklyn Nets recently revealed “Stars and Stripes” alternate uniforms, meant to pay homage to the team’s rich history. The gear is a throwback to the ABA Nets’ “Stars and Stripes” uniform worn from 1972-1976. To coincide with the uniform launch, the Brooklynettes dance team is hosting a “Fashion Face-Off” competition.
The Brooklynettes have enlisted tri-state area fashion design students, to help create a new look for the team. Designs must be black and white, contain the word “NETS,” reflect the Brooklyn “Stars and Stripes uniform,” and draw inspiration from the Brooklynettes current costume collection, which boasts an edgy yet sophisticated vibe.
The top three designs will be featured on brooklynnets.com, where fans will be able to vote for their favorite fashions. The apparel will be produced by costume designer, David Dalrymple, and will hit the hardwood at the Barclays Center, during the 2014-15 NBA season.
