CHRIS BOSH TEAMS WITH ARMSTRONG & WILSON TO LAUNCH “MR. NICE TIE” NECKWEAR LINE
The NBA fashion game extends beyond players’ off-court wardrobe choices. From Dwyane Wade to Russell Westbrook, the game’s stars continue to play an active role in the development of their own apparel and accessory collections. Chris Bosh is the league’s latest athlete-turned-designer. The Miami Heat baller teamed up with Philadelphia-based tie maker, Armstrong & Wilson, to release a collection of neckwear. Bosh follows in the footsteps of Wade, who partnered with The Tie Bar last Fall, to launch an exclusive line of ties and accessories.
Bosh’s line, dubbed “Mr. Nice Tie,” will include five regular tie and five bow tie styles. The designs are slated to launch in Fall 2014.
“Chris” character on and off the court is woven throughout the elements that Mr. Nice Tie represents. “Chris has a true love for family, and a diverse range of style that is embodied within the collection,” says Clifton Wilson, Creative Director at Armstrong & Wilson.
Bosh told the New York Times:
“We dress up a lot in the N.B.A., but it’s not always so serious,” he said during a phone call, “and I wanted to reflect that” while also being aware of “not just doing something I like,” but something that could attract a wide customer base.
“The N.B.A. is really, really heavy with fashion right now, and guys really want to see what we are all wearing,” Mr. Bosh said.
