CFDA, BLOOMINGDALES & NFL PARTNER TO CREATE CUSTOM SUPER BOWL XLVIII HELMETS
With Super Bowl XLVIII touching down in the New York/New Jersey area, fashion has become an integral part of the game. Among the initiatives fusing football and fashion is a collaboration between Bloomingdales, the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) and the NFL. 48 design houses and members of the CFDA have developed one-of-a-kind, “haute couture” helmet designs.
The decorative domes come from a wide range of men’s, women’s and accessory designers. Each has put a unique twist on the standard helmet, embellishing the headgear with florals, spikes, embroidery, crystals and other details that adhere to each brand’s aesthetic.
The helmets will be unveiled in the windows at Bloomingdale’s 59th Street location, on January 15th, at 5 p.m. Following the reveal, fans can visit Bloomingdales.com/superbowlhelmets to bid on their favorite Super Bowl XLVIII helmet designs, from January 15 – February 4. 100 percent of the net proceeds will benefit the NFL Foundation. The minimum bid for each helmet will be $248, celebrating the 48th Super Bowl which is taking place across two states.
“We are excited to team up with Bloomingdale’s and the CFDA to auction off designer Super Bowl XLVIII helmets to support the work of the NFL Foundation,” said Natara Holloway, the NFL’s vice president of consumer products.“This unique collaboration is another way for fans of football and fashion to get closer to the game and be a part of the Super Bowl XLVIII festivities happening all across the New York-New Jersey region.”
