JOHN VARVATOS PROFILES MAPLE LEAFS TEAMMATES IN “STYLE & SUBSTANCE”
After featuring a range of Boston-based athletes in the previous edition of “Style & Substance,” John Varvatos has shifted focus to the NHL. The section profiles men “whose creativity and dedication to their work follows in the spirit of John Varvatos’ own approach to his craft.” The latest installment spotlights Joffrey Lupul, David Clarkson and Jonathan Bernier of the Toronto Maple Leafs. The piece, dubbed “Hometown Heroes,” highlights the bond between the teammates, who are photographed wearing winter weather fashions from the designer.
Each featured player has represented the Leafs in style. Earlier in the season, Lupul collaborated with men’s retailer, Gotstyle, to create #LupulStyle. Fans can vote on his wardrobe for home games and each vote cast benefits the True Patriot Love Foundation. David Clarkson recently covered Men’s Fashion magazine and spoke about dressing up off-the-ice. The Leafs, together with the Detroit Red Wings, were also the subject of the HBO series “24/7 Red Wings/Maple Leafs: Road to the NHL Winter Classic,” where the team’s fashion game was on full display.
