CLIPPERS’ J.J. REDICK SHOWS HODINKEE HIS WATCH COLLECTION
For L.A. Clippers guard, J.J. Redick, watches are more than a fashion statement. Redick is an avid collector with extensive knowledge and a deep appreciation for luxury timepieces. Wristwatch publication, Hodinkee, featured the hoops star in its “Talking Watches” series with executive editor, Benjamin Clymer. Within the piece, Redick explained how he developed an interest in watches (his first was a Rolex that he bought in New York City the day before he got drafted), how his taste in timepieces has evolved, details on his personal collection, and what he looks for in a new accessory.
Redick noted that the F.P. Journe Chronometre Bleu and the IWC Portuguese Automatic are among his favorite timepieces. In general, the wristwatch aficionado prefers designs that boast a vintage, romantic vibe. When talking about his dream watch, he explained:
“After buying my first Patek [Philippe] I definitely think that the 5970 is my dream watch. I don’t know if there’s a watch that you would ever need besides that, to be honest with you. To me, it’s a perfect watch, so that would be the dream watch. It might be one of those things where if I get it, I don’t know if I’d wear much else. It would be hard to take that one off my wrist.”
