NIKE UNVEILS BOLD NEW UNIFORMS FOR 2014 NFL PRO BOWL
The 2014 NFL Pro Bowl uniforms received a bold new makeover, with styling reminiscent of college football fashions. Fans have likened the threads to those worn by the Oregon Ducks and Oregon State Beavers football teams. The Nike-designed gridiron gear is a break from the traditional red and blue hues typically associated with the Pro Bowl game.
This year, the league’s top players will take the field in Hawaii wearing the Nike Elite 51 Pro Bowl Uniform. The gear was designed in vibrant color schemes of white and orange, and gray and “volt” yellow, for the AFC and NFC respectively. The updated uniforms are accompanied by new technology, which the brand described as:
Designed for optimal ventilation, the Nike NFL Nike Elite 51 Pro Bowl Uniform features a combination of lightweight, breathable fabrics. Designed and engineered from the inside out, this uniform system is built for the speed and energy of the all-pro event, and the heat of the host city – Honolulu, Hawaii.
Nike’s on-field fashion overhaul is also meant to acknowlegde the new format of the game itself:
The uniform design and the game itself share a common theme that highlights the new, faster format for the Pro Bowl. Rather than pitting the AFC vs. the NFC, the 2014 Pro Bowl will make fantasy football a reality, allowing players, coaches, and fans to vote for the two teams. Once selected, teams will compete in a “best in the NFL” match-up built around speed and competition.
The game will take place on Sunday, January 26 at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu, Hawaii. Here’s a closer look at the Nike Elite 51 Pro Bowl uniforms:
