ASHWORTH GOLF & PETER MILLAR UNVEIL THE PRESIDENTS CUP FASHIONS FOR U.S. TEAM & INTERNATIONAL TEAM
Today Ashworth Golf revealed the fairway fashions for the U.S. golfers. The company serves as the official supplier for the U.S. Team at The Presidents Cup, to be held October 1-6 at Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio.
The competitive clothing range includes seven special-edition styles that were inspired by Team Captain, Fred Couples. In addition to his duties as captain, Couples also played the role of designer. He was involved in the process of choosing colors, fabrics and styles for The Presidents Cup collection. He also worked to incorporate his favorite design elements from apparel worn throughout his career, into the team’s wardrobe.
“It’s an honor to play for the United States at The Presidents Cup, and it was important to me that my players represented our country in premium shirts that are comfortable, look great and fit properly,” said Couples, U.S. Team captain and Ashworth brand ambassador. “The specially designed Ashworth pieces tell that story, and I’m proud the team will be wearing them on one of golf’s biggest stages.”
The patriotic threads were designed in red, white and navy blue hues, and embody the brand’s modern, sophisticated vibe. The Presidents Cup collection is available at AshworthGolf.com. Below is a preview:
It was also announced that Peter Millar would return to The Presidents Cup, to outfit the International Team. The company had previously served as the Official Apparel Provider for the U.S. Team. This year at Muirfield, Peter Millar will dress Team Captain Nick Price, Captain’s Assistants Shigeki Maruyama, Mark McNulty and Tony Johnstone, along with all International Team participants for the Opening Ceremonies. The wives and significant others of the International Team will be donning the brand’s fashions as well.
The International Team uniforms will include knit shirts, pants and sweaters, meant to combine “the rich history of the event with Peter Millar’s signature style - timeless craftsmanship, superb sophistication and bright hues of wearable color.” The team will be dressed in fairway designs that are classic, yet modern, with a wardrobe that will include tailored clothing crafted from luxurious super 120’s wool, imported cotton dress shirts, silk neckwear, 100 percent cashmere sweaters and superfine wool pants along with high-performance fabrics. Players will also be provided with luxury cashmere and coordinated outerwear, accented with delicate gold details for layering on cool mornings.
“While we proudly outfitted the U.S. Team at the last Presidents Cup, this year it is fitting that Captain Nick Price and the International Team wear Peter Millar to symbolize the brand’s growth on a global scale. Today, we are emerging in more international markets than ever before and it is an exciting time,” said Chairman and CEO Scott Mahoney.
