MATT HARVEY MODELS HIGH-END FASHIONS FOR NEW YORK POST PHOTO SHOOT
Matt Harvey is among the professional athletes who will appear in ESPN The Magazine’s upcoming “The Body” issue. But before he bares all, the New York Mets pitcher showed off his style sense in a shoot for the New York Post. Harvey, who revealed that he loves high-end fashion, modeled a range of lux designs from a Gucci tuxedo, Michael Bastian evening jacket and Marc Jacobs blazer, to accessories from Alexander Wang, Audemars Piguet and Giorgio Armani.
Playing in the Big Apple often forces athletes to step up their fashion game and Harvey has already embraced the sartorial spotlight. The 24-year old has scored some style tips from his fashion-forward sports pals including teammate, David Wright, and New York Rangers goaltender, Henrik Lundqvist. Harvey credits Lundqvist, who has often been dubbed the NHL’s best-dressed, in helping to cultivate his style. He told the New York Post:
“Being friends with him has definitely encouraged my credit card. I continuously ask him for fashion tips and to take me shopping, but he continues to say I’m doing just fine, and it kind of ends the conversation. Maybe he doesn’t want me to spill his secrets,” jokes Harvey, who shops at John Varvatos and Rag & Bone and favors dark skinny jeans, boots, leather jackets and light-colored shirts.”
“I’ve always really liked to look good and to dress well. When it comes time to travel, I love a three-piece suit,” he says of his collection of Varvatos, Burberry and Elevee numbers. He bought the first of two Breitling watches when he signed with the Mets and is looking to add a Rolex or an Audemars Piguet to his collection.”
Within the article Harvey also discusses a career in acting, trying to emulate Derek Jeter and his personal life. For the full piece, read on here. Check out a preview of the fashion shoot below and for additional photos, visit here.
