PRE-WIMBELDON PARTY FASHIONS FROM WTA STARS
Before Wimbledon’s all-white dress code takes effect, the game’s top female players dressed up for an evening at the Kensington Roof Gardens in London. The pre-Wimbledon party had the tennis stars ditching their on-court wardrobes in favor of colorful couture fashions. The event provided an opportunity for the women to display their personal style. Many of the clothing choices came from British designers, in honor of the London-based Grand Slam.
Here’s a breakdown of the pre-Wimebledon party fashions:
Serena Williams: Williams wore a body-hugging sheath dress from Burberry London. She look chic in black and white, adding a bright pop of color with a turquoise clutch. Animal-printed sandals from Burberry completed the look. Earlier in the week, Serena was also spotted at the designer’s Spring 2014 menswear show.
Ana Ivanovic: Ivanovic hit the pink carpet in a tribal printed mini from Matthew Williamson’s Spring 2013 collection. A Stella McCartney clutch and teal heels from Christian Louboutin brought out colors within the dress, for a look that was perfectly polished.
Maria Sharapova: Sharapova looked elegant in a Burberry Prorsum dress. She accessorized with a metallic gold belt and Charlotte Olympia heels.
Laura Robson: Robson also opted for Burberry Prorsum, though her ensemble was a sharp contrast to Sharapova. She paired a flirty, short-sleeve, green lace dress with ankle strap pumps.
Bethanie Mattek-Sands: Always pushing the fashion envelope, Mattek-Sands debuted another bold style statement. It wasn’t quite as wild as the tennis-ball themed gown she wore in 2011, but a neon belt, a colorful, ombre hairstyle and her Google Glass made for a memorable ensemble.
Victoria Azarenka: Azarenka kept it simple in an LBD, but a statement belt added some interest to the outfit.
Petra Kvitova: Kvitova looked classy in a black, one-shoulder dress and simple black pumps.
Daniela Hantuchova: Hantuchova paired a super short, creme-colored mini with gold strappy sandals, showing off her toned figure.
Heather Watson: Watson look fun and fresh in a yellow lace dress and a side braid, but the black pumps were a bit too harsh with the summery ensemble.
Sara Errani: Errani opted for casual styling with her pre-Wimbledon party outfit. When compared to the group, she put less effort into her red carpet look, wearing white jeans, a blazer and ballet flats.
Jelena Jankovic: On the opposite side of the style spectrum was Jankovic, the evening’s most glamorous dresser. She was among the sartorial standouts thanks to a fiery-red gown with a plunging neckline and a bright pink pout.
Sloane Stephens: Stephens showed off her physique in a form-fitting, cut-out mini. The bright yellow hue complimented her skin tone nicely but as with Watson, a lighter shoe would have been a more appropriate fit.
Angelique Kerber: Kerber revealed that simplistic, all-black ensemble came from her own personal wardrobe.
Agnieszka Radwanska: Radwanska was a fashion ace from head-toe-toe. She brightened up a black lace dress with a rose-colored clutch and color-block, peep-toe pumps.
