NEW ERA MEMORIAL DAY “STARS & STRIPES” CAPS FEATURE DIGITAL CAMO DESIGN
For the past five years, New Era, the official on-field cap of Major League Baseball, has created special headwear as part of its “Stars & Stripes” collection. The patriotic fashions debut on Memorial Day and on the Fourth of July, and support the Welcome Back Veterans Fund. Previous designs have centered around a red/white/blue colorway, with a stars and stripes motif included within outlined team logos. Last season’s caps instead remained in each team’s official color, but a digital camouflage appliqué filled the MLB logo on the front of the cap. In its sixth year, the commemorative caps feature a different design aesthetic, taking the camo approach even further.
The 2013 “Stars & Stripes” caps, set to debut on Memorial Day, pay homage to our fighting forces. The hats were created with a military digital camouflage design, officially licensed from the United States Military. Each features an embroidered team logo on the front and embroidered MLB logo on the rear. The digital camo pattern is present throughout, on the full crown and visor. The caps retail for $37.99.
“While camo print has been very popular, as of late, from a fashion perspective, we wanted to take a true approach to the inception of the camouflage print for these caps. Licensing the very design that the brave men and women of our military wear is an authentic approach that we are very proud of,” said Christopher H. Koch, New Era CEO.
An additional patriotic style to be worn on the Fourth of July, will be unveiled at a later date. Shop the 2013 Memorial Day “Stars & Stripes” collection here. Below is a preview:
