“MVP STYLE:” CARMELO ANTHONY COVERS WSJ MAGAZINE
Carmelo Anthony graces the cover of WSJ Magazine‘s April issue. Dressed in a gray hoodie and sporting his signature headband, the New York Knicks forward appears next to the headline “MVP Style.” The feature, shot by celebrity photographer, Terry Richardson, highlights Carmelo’s third season playing with the Knicks, his goal of winning an NBA title, and his refined sense of style since moving to New York. For the full piece, read on here.
Anthony’s fashion game is ever-evolving with the help of his personal stylist, Khalilah Williams-Webb, who has worked with the NBA star for the past for years. In that time, Carmelo has appeared within the pages of countless fashion magazines, he’s become a Fashion Week front row fixture, and he’s be-friended designers like Rag & Bone. He continues to receive style praise from the fashion industry as well.
Marcus Wainwright of Rag & Bone, who worked with Anthony on a custom tuxedo for the 2012 Met Costume Institute Gala, says the player has a “real sense of personal style and the confidence that goes with that.”
Within the article, the magazine’s Men’s Style Director, David Farber, had this to share:
“What I thought was really interesting about Carmelo is that he was very willing—even fearless—when it came to trying on different outfits for the shoot,” says Farber. “I wasn’t sure how he would react when I told him I wanted to keep a bit of his personal style in the story, but he was all for mixing things up until we found the right balance. In one shot he is wearing a smoking jacket from Ferragamo paired with sweatpants from Armani. He had a ‘let’s play’ attitude, which makes my job a pleasure.”
