ADIDAS UNVEILS UNIQUE NEW UNIFORMS FOR 2013 MARCH MADNESS

With March Madness just around the corner, adidas has unveiled a new set of hardwood fashions for six collegiate teams. The squads will debut the gear during the 2013 NCAA basketball postseason. The new team threads are part of the adizero uniform system of dress. Last year adidas revealed its first set of adizero uniforms for the 2012 tournament, with three participating teams. The basketball fashions were bold, but this year’s uniforms take it up a notch, with an new, eye-catching design. In addition to updated performance benefits, the uniforms will feature a distinct on-court style.

Adidas recently unveiled short-sleeved jerseys for the NBA’s Golden State Warriors and now three college teams will follow suit. Baylor University, University of California Los Angeles and University of Louisville will wear the revolutionary short sleeve uniform system. The University of Cincinnati, University of Kansas and University of Notre Dame will wear the adizero sleeveless uniform system.

The jerseys are paired with wild, printed shorts. Fans have likened the bottoms to the popular Zubaz print made famous in the 1980’s. The uniform’s limited-edition design and coloring was created specifically for this season’s NCAA basketball postseason run. The “impact camo” pattern is designed to let players stand out on college basketball’s biggest stage, while patches on the jersey backs feature school specific detailing to pay homage to team spirit and pride. According to the brand:

Designed for a bold on-court look and engineered to enhance player performance by improving fit, comfort and mobility, the adizero short sleeve uniform system is made from 60 percent recycled materials and features FORMOTION technology for comfort and maximum mobility during shooting and dribbling. Jersey armhole insets with 360-degree stretch fabric promote free range of motion for the arms and shoulders.

Both sets of uniforms feature adidas’ quick drying Revolution 30 technology found in current NBA uniforms and ClimaCool zones which move heat and moisture away from the body to keep the jersey light and dry during heavy sweating. The super-lightweight woven short is designed for improved breathability and a closer, more comfortable fit with compression base layers.

Teams will suit up in the adizero uniform systems beginning with conference tournament play March 13-17. Fans can pick up team gear at adidas.com and campus bookstores. Check them out:
