TONY PARKER COVERS MAXIM’S “ALL-STAR STYLE” SPRING ISSUE
San Antonio Spurs point guard, Tony Parker, fronts the March 2013 issue of Maxim, the magazine’s Spring Fashion Preview. Inside the pages of the publication, he models a range of “All-Star Styles” from designers like Canali, Van Heusen, Lacoste and Boss. Each outfit is accessorized with wristwear from Tissot. Parker is among the pro athletes who serve as the company’s brand ambassadors.
In addition to showcasing how to wear some of the season’s top trends, Parker discusses the NBA fashion phenomenon, players and their facial hair, and Texas style. Below are a few excerpts:
Now more than ever it seems like NBA players are the most fashionable guys around. What’s up with that?
That’s true, but I think it started in 2005 when David Stern changed the dress code. When I joined the NBA in 2001, everyone was into the hip-hop style. The players were wearing throwback jerseys, and everything was size XXXL. As soon as the new rule came into place, everyone had to become more fashion-conscious.
You think any guys failed in their attempts?
For sure. Tim Duncan is still a bad dresser! He is totally laid-back, and that’s how he likes to dress. But you know, he is the franchise, so I can’t really say anything.
Clothes call: The Maxim cover has Parker dressed in a Calvin Klein Collection suit, Joseph Abboud wool sweater, Express fitted shirt, Sarar silk tie, Johnston & Murphy Ellington saddle shoes and a Tissot PRC 200 Gent watch.
Timed with the release of his cover spot, Parker (@tonyparker) will also be doing a Tweetchat tonight, Wednesday, February 20th, at 9pm EST. The stylish Tissot watch ambassador will talk about fashion, sports and general lifestyle topics. Fans can tweet their questions to the @Tissot account using the hashtag: #TissotTimeOut.
