CALVIN KLEIN JOINS THE SUPER BOWL AD GAME WITH A STEAMY NEW SPOT
In 2012, an underwear-clad David Beckham steamed up television screens with his Super Bowl H&M Bodywear ad. This season, model Matthew Terry will fill the void, as he stars in Calvin Klein Underwear’s new spot for Super Bowl XLVII. Fashion houses often shy away from the event. For Calvin Klein, this commercial marks the brand’s Super Bowl debut.
“This is a significant milestone, and, as an iconic American designer brand, [we] are extremely proud to be able to debut the latest Calvin Klein Underwear campaign during the Super Bowl — the most watched television event annually in the U.S.,” said Tom Murry, president and chief executive of CKI.
The 30-second spot is set to air at the end of the first quarter. The commercial features Terry in Calvin Klein Concept, the latest offering from Calvin Klein Underwear that utilizes 360 degree seamless technology for a new standard in comfort and fit. The concept is described as “man versus machine” and like Beckham’s previous ad, it provocatively portrays Terry in his skivvies. The print campaign (below) was shot by Steven Klein.
Stay tuned for the full commercial premiering at this Sunday’s Super Bowl. Here’s a sneak peek:
