INSIDE THE CLOSET OF “NFL FASHION PLATE” JOSH CRIBBS
Showcasing personal style on the gridiron is not an option for NFL players. Even a slight alteration to their team uniform, such as a cleat color change, can result in a football fashion-related fine. Off-the-field, players have free reign when it comes to their sartorial decisions. In the NFL, the competition extends off-the-field as guys vie for best-dressed honors. Cleveland Browns’ receiver/punk returner, Josh Cribbs, is one of many players working to perfect his fashion game. In an effort to stand out, Cribbs has begun to take more risks with his styling while staying “within the GQ-type realm of fashion.”
“My passion for fashion actually came in 2008, my first Pro Bowl,” he said. “I knew that all the guys down there would be blinged out and wearing the best clothes and I just felt like I needed to fit in. That’s when I bought my first watch and started to take notice of what I was wearing.”
Though Cribbs’ admitted that his wife has the larger Louboutin collection, he has the bigger closet. Yahoo! Sports took a tour of his impressive wardrobe, which was filled to capacity with sneakers, suits and monogrammed shirts. Cribbs admitted that he now offers fashion advice to his Browns’ teammates as well. But who does he admire in the league for his fashion statements?
“Brandon Marshall. He upped his fashion game. Might have to copy his style a little bit, which is not a bad thing.”
