CITIZEN WATCH CO. DESIGNS LIMITED-EDITION U.S. OPEN TIMEPIECE
Just in time for the U.S. Open, Citizen Watch Company announced Victoria Azarenka, #1 player on the WTA Tour, as the newest international brand ambassador for the Citizen Eco-Drive Unstoppable media campaign. She joins an impressive roster of sports figures including New York Giants QB, Eli Manning, LPGA golfer Paula Creamer, NASCAR driver, Matt Kenseth and tennis great, Kim Clijsters, who also represent the brand.
Citizen supports athletes across sports, but the company’s commitment to the game of tennis is especially evident in its longtime sponsorship of U.S. Open. This year marks the brand’s 20th Anniversary as the Official Timekeeper of the U.S. Open. To commemorate the occasion, the watchmaker has designed a series of limited-edition wristwatches. The tennis-themed timepieces feature the USTA logo and a dial and bezel design inspired by a tennis racquet. The elegant yet sporty wristwear is available with either a white or blue polyurethane strap and incorporates Citizen’s Eco-Drive Technology. Players participating in the tournament will score their own limited-edition versions of the watches, inscribed with “U.S. Open 2012 Competitor.”
According to the brand, in conjunction with the release of this watch series a donation has been made to USTA Serves, whose mission is to support, monitor, and promote programs that enhance the lives of at-risk children and individuals with disabilities through the integration of tennis and education.
