With each U.S. Open tournament, the courts at Arthur Ashe Stadium become a catwalk for fashion-forward athletic apparel. The final Grand Slam of the tennis season precedes Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York and before Vogue editor-in-chief, Anna Wintour, hits the front row at runway shoes, she’s often spotted rooting for Roger Federer in his box. Several of the game’s stars will also make the transition from courtside to stage-side, including Venus Williams, who will showcase her revamped EleVen line during Fashion Week. But first, here’s a preview of the U.S. Open styles we’ll see on court:

The 2012 U.S. Open will be the last Grand Slam for Fila athlete, Kim Clijsters. To honor her career, the brand has developed a special collection of apparel and accessories. The limited-edition “Tennis Star” collection features red, white and blue hues and a star pattern design with 11 bigger stars representing Kim’s 11 years with the Fila brand. Four of those stars also feature a tennis ball, representing Kim’s 4 Grand Slam wins.

Fila athlete Jelena Jankovic will hit the court in this pink, drop-waist Heritage Dress:

The U.S. Open marks the second Grand Slam where Uniqlo will serve as Novak Djokovic’s clothing sponsor. In addition to sporting the gear on-court, Djokovic collaborated with the retailer on a men’s performance collection, with items similar to his own tennis wear. Djokovic launched the new line this week in New York City, and showed off his U.S. Open ensemble.

The day/night looks for Nike tennis athletes adapt to each player’s personal style. Fans will see Roger Federer’s classic polo and monogram details, Maria Sharapova’s mix of on-court elegance and feminine details and Serena Williams’ bold use of color among others.
