SEAN AVERY’S NEW FASHION GIGS: HICKEY FREEMAN MODEL, PROJECT RUNWAY GUEST JUDGE
Sean Avery commands attention both on and off-the-ice, whether for his hockey skills and antics or his sharp fashion sense. The self-proclaimed clotheshorse is never too far from the action, especially where style is concerned. His fashion credentials include a stint at Vogue magazine as an intern, GiltMan curator, consultant for men’s label, Commonwealth Utilities, and Fashion Week fixture. He continues to indulge his passion for fashion as his most recent projects have him modeling menswear and playing the role of fashion critic.
Avery serves as the face of the Spring/Summer 2012 Hickey Freeman ad campaign. His print ad appeared in Vanity Fair magazine. The black and white photo, shot by Fancesco Carrozzini and styled by Sean Spellman, features a plad jacket clad Avery gazing out a car window.

Last week Avery lent his style sense to “Project Runway All-Stars,” where he served as a guest judge. During the episode’s challenge, contesants walked the street of New York in search of a muse, who would offer the clothes off their back. Those items were then incorporated into a newly designed garment. Avery joined a judging panel that inclued fashon desingers, Isaac Mizrahi and Georgina Chapman and model, Angela Lindvall. Described as “a rising star on the NY fashion scene,” the hockey pro critiqued the designers’ creations with entertaining commentary such as this: “I wrote down Lady Gaga and Gwen Stefani at Bernie Mann on acid.”
