LEWIS HAMILTON MODELS SPRING LAYERS FOR GQ
Lewis Hamilton’s day job requires him to wear a racing suit plastered with logos, hardly the most fashion-forward item of clothing. Off the track, his style is typically casual and relaxed yet he’s often seen sporting diamonds to add a touch of bling. Though he’s admitted he’s no fashion icon, Lewis does have some stylish credentials. Last Summer he was tasked with styling and directing a fashion photo shoot together with fellow driver, Jenson Button. But in his latest fashion venture, he’s the one being photographed.
The British Formula One driver is the subject of a six page fashion spread in GQ magazine, which focuses on a menswear trend for Spring: layering. Hamilton models a variety of looks that interpret the trend under the “Layer Like A Player” headline. Among the six featured ensembles are “The Denim Jacket: More Than Just Outerwear,” a look includes that a rugged jean jacket underneath a conservative trench, and “Sweat the Suit,” which features a series of dapper duds like a retro sweatshirt underneath a slim suit. Fans will see Hamilton in mix of pieces from high-end designers like Burberry, Prada and Gucci as well as sporty fashions from Reebok and American Apparel.
In addition to the shoot, Hamilton chats with GQ about being in the states. He said: “I don’t quite know how F1 will play in Oklahoma and places like that, but every time I’m in California, I swear more people recognize me—genuine fans. I love it in the States. The roads are big, the food is big. If it was possible to be in L.A. and still live my racing life, I would move now.”
