DRESS LIKE CRAIG SAGER: AT YOUR OWN RISK
Craig Sager is known as “America’s Sideline Reporter.” But as skilled as he is in interviewing coaches and players, he is probably more well known for sporting some of the most eclectic gametime fashions. And nothing is off limits for Sager. While the athletes he interviews are known to rock some over-the-top off court looks themselves, Craig always gives them a run for their money.
We’ve seen him in everything from sequined sport coats to crazy colored floral and polka dot ties to mismatched pocket squares. And Craig is often criticized for his fashion choices, as many believe that his sense of style is just plain ugly. But don’t be fooled because he puts a lot of time and effort into choosing each look. Not only do his suits and accessories come with a hefty price tag, but they come from top designers including one of his favorites, A. Taghi. It’s also been said that Sager’s 30-foot by 10-foot walk-in closet is full of designer duds, including a rotating cast of hundreds of suits, jackets and ties. And his array of choices is so extreme, that some of the closet space in his children’s bedrooms is dedicated to housing his excess wardrobe.
So who wouldn’t have fun emulating Sager’s wild and crazy looks? Tomorrow is “Dress Like Craig Sager Night” for the Fort Myers Miracle of the Florida State League, to honor the former Fort Meyers broadcaster and his iconic sense of style. Admittance will be discounted for the brave fans who come out showcasing their version of the wardrobe of the sideline reporter.
And dressing like Craig shouldn’t be too difficult because fans can mix any combination of colors, fabrics and patterns to achieve his look. But if you need some ideas, here’s a peek at some of the fashions that we love to hate from Craig Sager:
